NSW Carers Advisory Council 2016

Thank you for your interest in joining the NSW Carers Advisory Council. 

Applications are invited to fill vacancies on the NSW Carers Advisory Council.

People who have experience as a carer or demonstrate relevant knowledge of, and experience in, matters relating to carers are invited to apply. 

Members should have an understanding of government decision-making processes, leadership skills and a capacity to contribute strategically to the development of policy. 

People with the following backgrounds or experiences are particularly encouraged to apply:

  • Aboriginal carers
  • carers with a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background
  • aging carers
  • carers of people with dementia
  • lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or intersex (LGBTI) carers
  • carers from regional and rural NSW.

The NSW Carers Advisory Council (the Council) was established under the NSW Carers (Recognition) Act 2010 to advance the interests of carers. The Council provides advice to the NSW Government on legislation, policy and other matters relating to carers. The Council meets approximately four (4) times a year in Sydney. 

While the majority of members of the NSW Carers Advisory Council are carers, others with relevant expertise about caring are encouraged to apply.
